Dr. Moore is Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering; Public Policy and Management; and Civil Engineering. He received his BS degrees in Industrial Engineering and in Urban Planning in 1981 from Northwestern University. He received his MS degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1982, his Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from Northwestern in 1983, and his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford in 1986. He specializes in transportation engineering, transportation systems, and other infrastructure systems. He joined Northwestern's Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty in 1986, and joined USC in 1988. He was awarded tenure in the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development in 1993, and in the Viterbi School of Engineering’s Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1997. He became chair of the Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in 2004, serving until 2010. He has served as president of the Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH), and of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences’ (INFORMS) Transportation Science and Logistics Society. He currently serves as the Institute of Industrial Engineer’s (IIE) President Elect, serving previously as Senior Vice President for Continuing Education.
