The Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering MS Honors Program offers outstanding students the chance to network with faculty members and PhD students, participate in current research projects, special access to Viterbi Career Services, invitations to MS Honors Program Events and many additional benefits. The Honors Program not only provides exceptional students with the opportunity to enhance their graduate experience but allows them to

distinguish themselves in the future when applying for jobs and/or PhD programs. The program itself is highly selective - in Fall 2006, only 2% of MS students admitted into the Department of Electrical Engineering were selected to participate.

- MS Honors Program events (including Welcome Reception in Fall, Recognition Luncheon in Spring semester and invitation to PhD events throughout the year)

- $100 printing card for use at campus libraries
- Priority access to special courses/programming via the Distance Education Network such as "Communication/Presentation Skills for Engineers"
- Recognition upon completion of Honors Program at graduation
- Additionally, students maintaining an overall GPA of 3.8 throughout the program are eligible for the MS Honors Scholorship of up to three tuition units- worth approx. $3,600- during the last semester of study (requires recommendation by faculty research advisor)
Criteria
The application process is highly competitive and only the very best students are selected. Selection is based on a variety of factors including GRE scores, GPA and research interest. A minimum GPA of 3.8 is required every semester in order to maintain membership in the MS Honors Program. Please note that selection is contingent upon the availabilty of faculty research advisors in the student's area of interest.
