Tim Shaw is the Manager of Security and Dangerous Goods Program Coordinator for Kalitta Air, and is based at the headquarters facility in Ypsilanti, MI.

 

Mr. Shaw specializes in the transportation of regulated Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods by Air. Having developed, implemented and instructed US FAA approved training programs since 1988; he conducts a variety of position specific Dangerous Goods training programs to Air Carriers, Freight Forwarders and Shippers alike.

 

Although not an IATA Endorsed DG Instructor, he has conducted IATA Endorsed Dangerous Goods Training Programs as well as a number of US Department of Labor; Occupational Safety and Health Administration, General Industry Outreach training programs.

 

Tim consults with and represents Air Carriers, Governmental Agencies and transportation colleagues worldwide in issues regarding Dangerous Goods Transportation.

 

Tim has successfully completed coursework at the US Department of Transportation’s Transportation Safety Institute, the US Department of Labor’s OSHA Training Institute, the US Federal Emergency Management Agency and numerous others.

 

Tim has qualified as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management, accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards and instructs a portion of the qualifying exam Review Course.

 

Tim has qualified as a ‘Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor’ (DGSA) for the European Community as certified by the Scottish Qualification Authority.

 

Tim holds the Aviation Safety Certificate from the University of Southern California’s School of Engineering’s Continuing Studies Program.

 

Tim instructs in the University of Southern California’s ‘Aviation Safety Management Systems’ (ASMS) course.

 

Tim holds certification as Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Operations (HAZWOPER) under the US Department of Labor guidelines.

 

Tim has successfully completed the Advanced Radioactive Materials Transportation course taught by the US Department of Energy.

 

Tim is the past chair of the National Air Carriers Association (NACA) Safety and Security Council.

 

Tim is an Associate Member of the International Society of Air Safety investigators (ISASI).

 

He holds Aircraft Dispatcher and Ground Instructor Certificates from the US FAA.

 

Tim is a graduate of Indiana University and holds a BS Degree in Business as well as a MS Degree in Education.
