Phillip (BSCE ’70, MBA ’72) and Cayley (MAPT ’75) MacDonald endowed an Early Career Chair that will enable the Viterbi School to compete successfully in attracting the best and brightest young faculty in the nation.  The funds generated from their gift will provide chair-holders an opportunity to enhance and gain recognition for their academic performance through research funding and stipends.
Endowment Giving

Endowment gifts are highly coveted by the USC Viterbi School of Engineering.  Endowment is vital because it is a lifetime source of income that will continue to grow over time.  The endowment is strategically invested and the Viterbi School receives a portion of the gains every year.

Endowed gifts:
  • May be named for an individual, a family, or for someone the donor wishes to honor
  • Provide permanent and everlasting support for the Viterbi School
  • Secure your legacy at USC forever

Increasing the endowment is a high priority of the USC Viterbi School’s Destination: The Future initiative. Endowment Giving Options Include:
Chairs and Professorships
A named chair or professorship recognizes scholarly excellence and is the highest honor the School can bestow upon its faculty.

Early Career Chairs
A named assistant professorship honors and supports young faculty who show great promise in their chosen fields.

Student Scholarships and Fellowships
Scholarship and fellowship support enhances the School’s ability to reward student excellence and to recruit both

meritorious and students with financial need.

Additional endowment giving opportunities:
  • academic programs
  • research institutes and centers
  • laboratories and classrooms

I wanted to endow a chair as an expression of appreciation to USC for the education I received there. It gave me the capability and confidence to become a very competent engineer.
