March 02, 2004 — USC Engineering's most distinguished alum and his wife give $52 million and a legendary engineering name to the School. Dean C.L. Max Nikias said, "To have our School bear the name of the creator of the Viterbi Algorithm and the co-founder of Qualcomm Corporation will be a source of tremendous pride for our faculty, students and alumni."
