James Moore Elected to Leadership Post

James Moore
James Moore, chair of the Viterbi School Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, has been elected to the leadership of the Council of the Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH).

“CIEADH has a three-person leadership team,” explained Moore. “I serve as president-elect and secretary until May of 2008, as president until May of 2009, and as immediate past president until May of 2010.”

Viterbi School Dean Yannis Yortsos recently re-appointed Moore to another three-year term as chair of the Epstein Department. Moore has served as chair since May of 2004 and the re-appointment was recommended by the faculty of the department. His new term begins July 1, 2007.

Moore holds joint appointments in the Viterbi School Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and in the USC School of Policy, Planning and Development. He is the director of the Transportation Engineering Program and co-director of the Construction Management Program.

He received BS degrees in industrial engineering and in urban planning from Northwestern University, an MS degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University and a master of urban and regional planning degree from Northwestern. He earned a PhD in civil engineering at Stanford.
