New York Times Gives Bat Research Top Billing  
Latest research by aerospace professor Geoff Spedding attracts widespread attention

March 04, 2008 —
Aerospace engineering Prof. Geoff Spedding's research on bat flight received major coverage in several print and broadcast outlets after his latest paper appeared in the Feb. 29 issue of Science.  Spedding and his colleagues at Lund University, Sweden, found that bats use some of the same flight tricks as insects to stay aloft and to hover.  National Public Radio and Science Daily picked up the story as well.
