Viterbi School Professor Elected ASME Fellow  
Michael Kassner is the former USC-AME chair

Michael Kassner
Michael E. Kassner, a Professor of Aerospace & Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering & Materials Science at the Viterbi School, was recently elected a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Fellows comprise only about 2% of ASME's nearly 100,000 members worldwide.

Kassner is well known for his fundamental research on the mechanical behavior of metallic materials.

Professor Kassner recently completed a successful six-year stint as the chair of the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department. Under his chairmanship, the department experienced steady growth in quality in all its programs, from students to research funding to new faculty.

Kassner is also a fellow of ASM-International.
