Shri Narayanan
Shrikanth Narayanan

Shrikanth Narayanan is an engaging associate professor with appointments in electrical engineering, linguistics and computer science.   He is involved with the  Integrated Media Systems Center, the Signal and Image Processing Institute and is director of the Speech Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory.  Put these ingredients together and you get a savory cross-disciplinary soup of media friendly projects – synthesizing laughter, software to detect phone rage, a Farsi-to-English (and back again) translation system to help patients and doctors communicate. Additionally, the research from Prof. Narayanan's speech lab contributes to several key projects at USC such as the Tactical Language Training System and the Virtual Humans for Training, that have all received wide attention fromthe media.
