  • International Student English (ISE) Examination
The ISE is a free placement examination given to determine the English proficiency of international students. The examination will assess both writing and speaking skills. To find out if you are required to take the ISE examination, check your letter of admission and your I-20 form. Some international students may be exempt from taking the examination; for more information, please contact the USC American Language Institute. The USC Testing Bureau will administer the examination and permits students to register for it on its website.
