Student Safety
USC Department of Public Safety (DPS) maintains advice regarding
special interest topics (e.g. ATM security, getting around USC safely, preventing acquaintance rape) on its website. It also inspects apartments, buildings and offices to identify features that may attract burglars. The
Crime Prevention and Community Education Unit conducts classes on self-defense, using pepper spray, and protecting property. Please contact the office at (213) 740-6000 for more information.
USC Trojan Transportation manages the
Campus Cruiser program, a free student escort service that offers safe transport home. It is available seven days a week from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM. Click
here to view a map that shows pick-up points and the parameters within which it operates. You can request pick-up on the University Park campus (where Viterbi School of Engineering is located) by calling (
213) 740-4911.
Trojan Transportation also operates a tram system to transport students around the University Park campus (where Viterbi School of Engineering is located), and between the University Park campus and Union Station, Health Sciences Campus, Downtown Health Center, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, and Alhambra. The department maintains a convenient tool to find the best
trams and schedules for you (e.g. how to go from Vivian Hall of Engineering to Leavey Library).
