Help with Classes

Whether you need additional help understanding the material presented in your courses or just want to raise your GPA by a few points, there are many resources on campus to help you.

Here are just a few ideas on how to get some support:
  1. The Viterbi Academic Resource Center provides free one-on-one tutoring to engineering students in math, science, and engineering courses.
  2. USC’s Supplemental Instruction program offers review sessions run by undergraduates in many math and science courses.
  3. The Center for Engineering Diversity offers Supplemental Instruction for all students in selected electrical engineering and computer science courses.
  4. Try forming a study group with your classmates. Start by asking students you recognize from your dorm or other classes.
  5. Don’t underestimate the help your instructors and teaching assistants can give.
Try visiting them in office hours - you can discuss course material or just get a better idea of the grade you are earning.

Dropping the Course?
Before you decide to drop a course, see an academic advisor to help weigh all your options and consider how your situation may affect your GPA, financial aid, and/or scholarships.

Learning Disabilities
If you can provide documentation of a physical or learning disability, Disability Services and Programs will work with you and your professors to provide special academic accommodations.  Be sure to speak with your instructors as early in the semester as possible.

Not enough time to get everything done?

Consult with a trained engineering student on your schedule and study habits!
