Specific Registration Concerns

Registering for more than 20 Units
The Web Registration system allows you to register for a maximum of 20 units.  If you wish to register for 21 units or more, you must:
  1. Obtain written permission from your department
  2. Complete a blue drop/add form in RTH 110 listing the course (or courses) taking you above 20 units
  3. Obtain permission from the Associate Dean in RTH 110
  4. If approved, you must register for the additional units in person at the Registration Building (REG)

Taking a Graduate Course for Undergraduate Credit
Exceptional undergraduate students may enroll in a graduate course.  In no case will a student be allowed to enroll in and receive credit for a graduate course if the student’s cumulative USC GPA is below 2.0.

In order to enroll in a graduate course you must complete a Graduate Class for Undergraduate Credit Form where you will
  1. Obtain approval from the instructor,
  2. Obtain approval from the chair of the major department to count the course for  undergraduate credit or audit the course, and
  3. Have your major department notify the Degree Progress Department regarding the manner in which the graduate course will be used.
  4. Once the form is signed by the professor and the chair, proceed to Degree Progress (JHH 010) for final processing.
  5. Proceed to the Registration Building (REG) and register for the class in person.

Reserving a Graduate Course for Graduate Credit
In order to reserve a graduate course for graduate credit you must;
  1. Be within 12 units of Graduation
  2. Have a 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Please see Associate Dean Margery Berti in OHE 332 for more information.
