Requirements
Current USC students who wish to change their major to engineering need to submit an Change of Major Application. In addition, students must complete the following pre-requisite courses: Math 125 - Calculus 1 (or higher), the first semester of lab science, and at least one engineering class. Non-Viterbi students may complete a maximum of four engineering courses. No additional engineering courses may be taken until a change of major request has been approved. A minimum grade of B, 3.0 (A=4.0), must be earned in all required pre-requisite courses. Students must also have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Applications for a “Request for Change of Major” to Engineering are due at the end of the semster. Applications for summer must be submitted no later than the Friday before the first week of classes.
If a student’s request to change majors to engineering is not approved, they will be advised to select another major and may be referred to the Office of College Advising, CAS 120, (213) 740-4530 to consult with an advisor to select another major.
Please Note: the maximum number of engineering classes you are allowed to take prior to sumbitting official request to change major to the Viterbi School is 4 courses.
