Internships & Co-ops

USC Engineers begin taking major-related engineering classes in their freshman year, which allows them to begin contributing to your company almost immediately!  Our engineering students are encouraged to gain as much hands-on, technical experience as they can before graduation. You, as an employer, play a very important role in providing challenging and relevant work experiences for our Trojan engineers. Not only are you helping students supplement their education, but also you are helping your company by being able to observe students in a work setting, which will help you make more informed hiring decisions. Viterbi Career Services looks forward to helping you hire our outstanding students!

Internships
USC students are encouraged to get a summer internship to gain practical experience and explore their options for employment after graduation.  Employers benefit too!  Summer interns can free up staff members to focus on higher-level assignments.  The internship process will also serve your company as an extended recruiting and selection process, ensuring candidates who are a strong fit to your company’s needs.

Post an Internship or Co-op Position
If you have an Iinternship or Co-op position, and are looking for top candidates, please let us know!   E-mail a job description to us or call 213-740-9677 and we will provide you with information on posting your position on connectSC, our online recruiting system.  To find more information on posting positions please visit our On-Campus Recruitment Programs to help you source and hire interns or Co-op Students.

Cooperative Education (Co-op)
The Co-op Program is USC’s Engineering work-academic partnership program.  This program allows undergraduate students to receive academic credit and maintain student status while working at degree-related experiences.

Co-op students will typically work at a company for a summer and a semester (6 – 7 months), followed by an additional summer experience.  This program will allow you to benefit from longer associations with students, leading the students to take on greater responsibility and more advanced roles at your company.  Co-op allows you to get to know our students over a longer period of time, which leads to more informed hiring decisions.

For more information on Co-op, please contact Brooke Hyman at 213.740.9677.
