Alpha Omega Epsilon (AOE)

Alpha Omega Epsilon is a national professional and social women’s engineering sorority that works to promote ideals and objectives to further the advancement of women in engineering. The AOE chapter at USC has been part of the Viterbi community since 1996.

 The Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

The Society of Women Engineers is a national organization that promotes awareness and the advancement of women in engineering. The USC SWE chapter coordinates programs to support these goals, as well as to support each other as they pursue their engineering degrees. SWE events range from yoga classes to the Date Auction, held annually in conjunction with E Week.

Who: Barbara McClintock

What:
One of pioneers in the field of bioengineering, worked in genetics at Cornell University and had major research breakthroughs. McClintock's success irked male peers and she was fired, however, she continued her work in genetics and was awarded the Nobel Prize.
