Hometown: Valparaiso, IN
High School: Valparaiso High School
What made you decide to attend USC: When I visited USC, I fell in love with the school, and I knew that I belonged here. The academics were excellent, the campus was beautiful, and it just felt right when I came here.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: My physics professor Dr. Bickers is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Although it was not always fun, I spent lots of time in his office learning and doing the homework sets. Dr. Bickers was always more than willing to help and explain the homework. I liked the first semester of his physics class so much that I am currently taking the second semester this year.
Favorite Class: Urban Geography (GEOG 410)
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Alpha Delta Pi, Peer Health Exchange (educator/mentor), Joint Educational Project (tutor), Intramurals (soccer), Food Not Bombs, Club Marathon Team, Society of Women Engineers, Friends and Neighbors Day, USC Club Boxing
Favorite on-campus event: From sporting events to concerts to movies on the quad, USC has it all. If I had to pick just one, I would have to say seeing Stephen Hawking speak was the best experience of my freshman year.
Best off-campus experience: I have always wanted to go surfing, and I went for the first time last January. It was so much fun, and coming from Indiana, I am usually covered in two feet of snow in January, so it was great to call my friends back home and brag about the weather.
Favorite memory from freshman year: I ran my first marathon in March of my freshman year. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had, and my best friend from home came out ot Los Angeles and ran it with me. It was challenging, but absolutely worth all of the hard work and effort.
What you like about being in LA: I love being in a big city because there is never a dull moment. I am just minutes away from the beach, and there is so much to do.
Hobbies/interests: Violin, piano, running, swimming, cooking (eating), scuba diving, attempting to surf, soccer, reading, boxing, traveling, movies
