Hometown: Oakland, CA
High School: St. Ignatius College Preparatory
What made you decide to attend USC: I first visited USC my junior year for a home football game and was overwhelmed by USC’s school pride and spirit. During Explore USC, I saw Viterbi’s commitment to its students in research and academics, and how well rounded its students were in school and extra curricular activities. After visiting and speaking with several helpful and friendly students and faculty, I knew USC would guide and support me through college to help me in my professional and personal life goals all while in sunny L.A.!
Best experience/interaction with a professor: This past summer I took Writing 340 through the Viterbi Overseas Program. Not only did we get to take classes in Paris, but we had the opportunity to hang out with our professor on weekend and day trips throughout France!
Favorite Class: AME 204 Strength of Materials
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Freshman Academy Coach, Engineers Without Borders (travel team to Honduras), Merit Research, Viterbi Overseas Program—Paris Summer 2010, ATPS, Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering
Favorite on-campus event: Fountain Run throughout campus with my sorority.
Best off-campus experience: Traveling to Honduras last Spring Break with Engineers Without Borders! I loved working with the village and applying our engineering skills in a foreign country to help build a schoolhouse and water pump system.
Favorite memory from freshman year: Everything in McCarthy Quad! Welcome Back Concerts, Lying out in the sunshine, and late night study breaks at Tro Gro all made for a great freshman year experience!
What you like about being in LA: I love LA because it’s a huge city with so much to do! There’s never a dull moment and so many awesome opportunities!
Research/study abroad experience: This summer I went to Paris through Viterbi’s Overseas Program, where I took two classes and also travelled throughout Europe on weekend trips!
Through Merit Research, I work in Dr. McNitt-Gray’s Biomechanics Lab, where I’ve hands on technical experience within the lab and with many of USC athletes.
Hobbies/Interests: Travelling, College Football, Skiing, Hiking, Volleyball, Tennis, Baking, Going to the Beach, Hanging out with friends, Yogurtland.
