Hometown: Fullerton, CA
High School: School of Tomorrow (Ethiopia)
What made you decide to attend USC: I chose USC due to the wide variety of undergraduate research opportunities they provide for their students and the hands-on learning experience that comes along with it.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: My best experience with a professor was during my Earthquakes (GEOL 240L) class especially when we went on a fieldtrip to observe most of the fault areas around LA. This was a very enlightening experience in such a way that the smallest hill that might seem mundane to other people was proven to have a great deal of information about past geological events and thus help us predict future tectonic scenarios.
Favorite Class: Theory of Structures I
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Trojan Debate Squad, Ansar Service Partnership, ASCE, Undergraduate Student Government Diversity Committee, Joint Educational Program mentor, Chi Epsilon Civil Engineering Honor Society
Favorite on-campus event: SpringFest
Best off-campus experience: Live performances on the Santa Monica beach pier
Favorite memory from freshman year: Learning to play blackjack so that I can write a blackjack program for my programming class project.
What you like about being in LA: I love LA because I have the choices of going to the beach or snowboarding on the same weekend with only a less than 2hrs drive (for most of the year that is)
Hobbies/Interests: soccer, debate
