Hometown: San Juan Capistrano, CA
High School: Dana Hills High School
What made you decide to attend USC: USC was actually my third choice initially, but after attending Explore USC and meeting with the staff and VSA’s, I knew USC was the place for me. The students all seemed so happy to be here and I really enjoyed the flexibility USC allowed in terms of majoring and minoring in multiple disciplines. The huge school spirit and pride was visible everywhere and it also doesn’t hurt that we have a great athletic tradition with football and many other sports.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: I got to spend two months studying in Paris, France with thirty other students and four different professors. We saw the professors every single day we were there, between class during the week and traveling with them on weekends. It was an amazing opportunity to interact with them both inside and outside of an academic environment. The relationships I developed with those professors have lasted far beyond the trip.
Favorite Class: HIST 225g - Film, Power, and American History
Involvements/extracurricular activities: USC Track and Field Team - Pole Vaulter, Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Beta Theta Pi Scholarship Chair for 2010, Alpha Lambda Delta, Association of Trustee and Presidential Scholars, W.V.T. Rusch Engineering Honors Program
Favorite on-campus event: One word: football. There is no greater feeling than attending a USC football game. The campus is crazy on game day and its awesome to see so much cardinal and gold in one place. Standing (not sitting) in the student section is so much fun, between singing along with the band and doing the post-touchdown celebrations.
Best off-campus experience: Going to the beach! My friends and I go to Manhattan, Venice, or any of the other beaches around here on the weekends to relax and get away from school for a bit. Walking the boardwalk at Venice beach is always really fun because of all of the strange shops, Muscle Beach gym, the skate park, and the great sand.
Favorite memory from freshman year: Dinners with my floor-mates. I lived in Birnkrant freshman year on a co-ed floor, and every week, we would have floor dinners. We loved being around each other and would all get together and go to EVK once a week for a “family” dinner. Both the guys and girls that lived on my floor are still some of my best friends, and my roommates every year since were people who lived on my floor freshman year.
What you like about being in LA: I love that I am only two minutes from downtown, fifteen minutes from the beach, and less than two hours from the mountains. We are right in the middle of everything, and there is always something to do in LA.
Research/study abroad experience: Studying abroad in Paris for two months. It was the most amazing summer of my life and I got to see and do so many things that I never thought I would in my lifetime. I went to Omaha Beach on the 4th of July, I ran with the bulls in Pamplona, I got to watch Spain win the World Cup while in Spain, I went parasailing over the French Riviera in Nice, and so much more.
Hobbies/Interests: Acoustic guitar, music, watching movies, track and field, football, golf, going to the beach, eating lots of food
