What made you decide to attend USC: The incredible flexibility in creating an academic program to fit your individual needs. With so many undergraduate schools, I knew I could pursue what I planned but also feel free to explore other options, which is exactly what I did. I took a very disparate selection of classes to decide my major and minor. It’s great knowing that USC not only gives you the freedom to explore but also encourages you to do so.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: Professor Meshkati in the ISE department is an incredibly accomplished individual yet is so accessible to students for chats after class or during office hours. He has a lot of experience traveling abroad and in industries within the country, so his insight is very interesting!
Favorite Class: ARLT 100: Sense and Sensuality in South Asia
Involvements/extracurricular activities: VP of Finance on SARSA Board, Treasurer of Webb Tower Building Government, Anjaane Dance Team
Favorite on-campus event: Welcome back concert (and others throughout the year)! Last year, it was headlined by Hello Goodbye, and they were amazing live! Conquest, a huge event leading up to the highly anticipated USC-UCLA football game, featured Common, which was also a really fun experience.
Best off-campus experience: Going to the LACMA for a special exhibit and exploring LA by Metro afterwards. Without a car my freshman year, I definitely learned how to use public transportation to go wherever I wanted!
Favorite memory from freshman year: Going to Ireland for a spring break program and spending St. Patrick’s Day there!
What you like about being in LA: In addition to the sunshine and laid-back lifestyle, it’s such a dynamic city. You are constantly discovering new places to go, new things to try! Also, there are so many great places to eat. I’m constantly discovering places downtown—which is really close by!
Research/study abroad experience: I spent the summer in Paris with the Viterbi Overseas Program! It was an amazing opportunity to experience another culture while taking classes which counted towards my degree.
Hobbies/interests: Dance, politics, writing, cooking, reading
