Hometown: San Antonio, TX
High School: International School of Geneva
What made you decide to attend USC: There were so many things that made me jump around when I found out I was accepted to USC. Most importantly, in my many visits to USC, I felt the pride and spirit of everyone here more and more each time I visited USC in high school. Whether it was wandering through campus or going to a USC football game, I felt that the challenge of a great university combined with the sense of belonging that comes with being a Trojan made for my best choice! I do NOT feel let down!
Best experience/interaction with a professor: Professor Redekopp is not only a superb professor, but also a person outside of the classroom. My best experience (so far) was with him during my Introduction to Aerospace Engineering class during my fall freshman semester. Once when I had not done very well on a few assignments in a row, and was even wondering if Aerospace was for me, he took the patient time to not only help me build a solid understanding of the material, well into the evening, but also was there to set me straight on my thinking about my major, and even the occasional life story. I learned a lot from Professor Redekopp, and am lucky to know him because he was truly dedicated to my success.
Favorite Class: Basic Flight Mechanics: AME-261 with Professor Blackwelder. I was in absolute heaven in that class. I am obsessed with flying, and that is all that we talked about in there!
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor, Italian Club President, Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics Honors Society), Model United Nations, Undergraduate Student Government, USC Ski Team, Social Fraternity (Sigma Nu), Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society, Order of Omega Honor Society, Los Angeles World Affairs Council, Aero Design Team
Favorite on-campus event: Homecoming
Best off-campus experience: Flying over downtown and Hollywood sign
Favorite memory from freshman year: Birthday party in the Freshman dorm! And midnight trips to Tommy's Burgers, a USC tradition.
What you like about being in LA: Big city, beach, fab weather, and great food
Research/study abroad experience: Cambridge University (English Law and Economics), London School of Economics (Business management and economics), Undergraduate dissertation in economics investigating long run effects of recent expansionary monetary policy on U.S. prospects of hyperinflation, Undergraduate research under Dr. Penkova investigating the effect of shear force on the rate protein aggregation process
Hobbies/interests: Languages (Speak 5). Recreational ski and wakeboard. Flying! Coin collecting. Nuclear physics (like what they do at CERN)
