Hometown: McLean, VA
High School: Thomas Jefferson HSST
What made you decide to attend USC: When I first visited USC, I fell in love with the sense of community and spirit shared by the whole student body. That combined with the school’s focus on and support of interdisciplinary study made USC the perfect fit for me.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: My Physics professor, Dr. Bickers, is one of the most helpful teachers I’ve ever worked with. I spent countless hours in his office going over the problems sets or quizzes, and he was always willing to lend a hand. Though the work was tedious at times, the ability to work one on one with a professor is such a unique experience and one to which I credit my success in Physics.
Favorite Class: Physics 161 with Dr. Bickers or Acting 101 with Mary Joan Negro
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Troy Tones A Cappella, Associated Trustee and Presidential Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Various Independent Student Theater Productions
Favorite on-campus event: Football Tailgates
Best off-campus experience: Second Chance Prom
Favorite memory from freshman year: One night my friends and I went to Six Flags Magic Mountain during Fright Fest. We got there at about 9 pm and started getting on rides. By 10 it was virtually deserted so we got on our favorite ride (Tatsu) and rode it over and over without even getting off. Then we stopped by In-N-Out on the way home for some well deserved burgers and milkshakes.
What you like about being in LA: I like that it’s so different from any place I’ve been before. I wanted to go somewhere completely new for college and that’s exactly what I got. LA has such a unique culture and society and it’s amazing to see how this culture affects the experiences you have with the people you meet from all different walks of life.
Research/study abroad experience: This past summer I worked at the National Institutes of Health in the Chemical Genomics Center doing drug development research. It was such a great learning experience working with scientists who are on the forefront of research on rare and neglected diseases. And the fact that I was able to actually contribute to this research effort is amazing. I haven’t ever been abroad but I hope to go to Rome next summer with the Viterbi Summer Abroad program.
Hobbies/Interests: Acting, singing, skiing, and smoothies!
