What made you decide to attend USC: I wanted to live in a big city and be a part of a large university. The programs that USC offers, like the W.V.T. Rusch Undergraduate Honors Program, and Thematic Option, really made me want to come here, because they offered me a chance to do things a little differently and learn more along the way.
Best experience/interaction with a professor: Dr. Bickers is one of the best professors I've had - he's in his office until 9 on some nights, so that his students can ask him for help on physics assignments. He is so incredibly enthusiastic about science, and especially about teaching it. Get him talking about the LHC and he'll get you excited about it too!
Favorite Class: Biomechanics - BME 404
Involvements/extracurricular activities: Freshmen Academy Coach, Engineering World Health, Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering, Society of Women Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, Viterbi Student Council
Favorite on-campus event: Conquest! Particularly the carnival in McCarthy Quad before the UCLA football game.
Best off-campus experience: I went to go see Wicked with my residence hall freshman year.
Favorite memory from freshman year: PI Day! At Marks Hall, we had a digits of Pi reciting contest and lots of pie for 3/14.
What you like about being in LA: Los Angeles is such a large city - there are so many different things to do. I particularly like how any way you go, you'll hit a theme park - Disneyland to the south, Six Flags to the north, and Universal Studios in LA itself. It's hard to get bored on weekends.
Research/study abroad experience: Viterbi Summer Abroad - Madrid 2009, Research in bioMEMS - I make and test thin silicone devices which are designed to fit on the bladder and measure pressure.
Hobbies/interests: Playing my flute, wandering around cities here and abroad, photography
