Dear Viterbi faculty and staff,
Effective today, Monday, 2/24/14, the next time you need to change your USCNetID or Viterbi network/email password, the new password will need to be 12 to 32 characters in length. See attached email from USC ITS for more information.
Please disregard the rest of this announcement if you do not have a VSOE account to access IT resources such as Viterbi Exchange email server, Viterbi Private Cloud Storage, Viterbi file server, or office desktops that have joined to the VSOE Windows Active Directory domain.
Viterbi IT is implementing the same password length policy. Effective today, Monday, 2/24/14, VSOE password change at VSOE Self-Service Password management system, http://viterbi.usc,edu/vsoepassword will accept only new passwords with a minimum of 12 characters. This change will affect your VSOE account the next time you need to change your password. However, you are encouraged to change to a longer password before your current password expires. Please note that http://viterbi.usc.edu/vsoepassword is to be used to manage your VSOE account password only. It does NOT manage your USC NetID password.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Viterbi IT by opening a ticket in http://myviterbi.usc.edu, email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 213-740-0517.
