Viterbi IT, a division in the Viterbi Business Affairs within the Office of the Dean, provides computing facilities and services to students, faculty, staff and administration of the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering (VSoE).  Viterbi IT supports teaching labs, student labs and group rooms.  Viterbi IT staff members are responsible for administrative/instructional computer support, network support, Exchange email, Viterbi network storage, web-based administrative and academic services applications and database.

3/8/13 - Scam/Phishing Emails, Delete if Received

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Several users received the attached scam/phishing email today.  You could expect more of this type of email as the University’s spam filter will not be able to catch or block them all.

Please be reminded of the following:

USC Information Technology Services (ITS) and Viterbi IT will not ask for your private and confidential information including username and password over email.

·         Any email that asks for your private and confidential information should be viewed with suspicion.

·         The sender’s email address for spam/scams may be from a non-USC domain which will be one indicator that the email may not be legitimate.

·         Any links contained in the email may send your browser to a non-USC website with malicious intent.  Please don’t click on the link.

·         When in doubt, please forward a copy to Viterbi IT at engrhelp@usc.edu for examination.

·         You could also forward a copy of the scam email to missedspam@usc.edu to help train the University’s spam filter.

3/27/13 - Microsoft DreamSpark Premium Program Announcement

Dear Viterbi Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that the Viterbi School is now a participant in the Microsoft DreamSpark Premium program.

Through DreamSpark, eligible USC students, faculty and staff may access numerous Microsoft software products at no cost, subject to the terms of the program. The program also allows eligible individuals to install Microsoft software on their personal computers.
