Viterbi Conference
Advancing Technology through Communications Sciences
The Viterbi Conference will be held at the University of Southern California
on March 8 and 9, 2005. This technical symposium will feature fifteen distinguished
speakers from areas where Dr. Andrew Viterbi has made a significant impact. The
speakers will provide a mixture of technical, historical and anecdotal material.
The Viterbi Conference coincides with the 2005 Viterbi Lecture. The 2005 Viterbi
lecture will be given by Jacob Ziv, Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering
at the of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, on the evening of March
8. In addition, the University of Southern California will be dedicating the
Viterbi Museum in the new Ronald Tutor Hall of Engineering. Finally, the two
days are an opportunity to honor Professor Viterbi's contributions on the occasion
of his 70th birthday.
Viterbi Lecture
The Viterbi Lecture was created as the USC Viterbi School of Engineering's premier
academic distinction in information technology and digital communications, an
area of research in which the School is a national leader. Each year, an awardee
who has made fundamental contributions of profound impact in communication will
present the Viterbi Lecture.
