Quantum Computers: From Science to Technology

Quantum computers are theoretical machines that obey the laws of quantum mechanics. By exploiting bizarre quantum effects such as interference and entanglement, quantum computers could solve certain computationally hard problems efficiently. But building real quantum computers is a huge technological challenge. In recent years, experimenters have been making steady progress towards realizing quantum computers, moving this field step by step from basic science towards practical technology.

Todd Brun is a Professor of Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Computer Science at the University of Southern California. He does research on quantum theory, especially on the problems of quantum computing and quantum information science
