Welcome to the Fall 2016 USC Mork Family Department newsletter. Our department was formed in 2005 by the merger of Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Materials Science and our growth has been supported by the generous gift of John and Julie Mork. Like USC as a whole, our efforts are directed at three primary missions--excellence in research, teaching, and service--and many of our efforts address critical issues facing society today.
This year, we have hired two new faculty members: Paulo Branicio, who joins us as assistant professor in January 2017; and Shaama Sharada, also an assistant professor, who arrives in September 2017.
Please have a look at our media links to discover our exciting new research, collaborative partnerships, community outreach and unique student life events that combine hard work with play. We are very proud of what Mork has to offer and hope you enjoy these highlights.
