March 02, 2004 — Hundreds of USC fans crowded into the Engineering Quad Tuesday (March 2) to honor
Andrew J. Viterbi, a pioneer in digital communications, for his $52- million endowment
gift to the School of Engineering. Amid the fanfare, spectators watched as a 20-foot
by 50-foot banner of the new Viterbi School of Engineering on the south wall of
Biegler Hall was unveiled.
