Account Activation / Login

As an USC faculty or staff member, you have a variety of computing services available to you.  These services are provided by Viterbi IT, your department IT, or by the university’s central Information Technology Services (ITS).  To use these services, you will be logging in with an account supplied to you by Viterbi IT, your department IT, or USC ITS.  Viterbi IT and USC ITS generated accounts are described below.

Your VSOE Account – Email and PC Access

Viterbi IT provides you with an account that gives you access to the following:

   • Your office computer

   • Your Viterbi Network Storage
     Currently available to staff.  Access is available to faculty of ASTE, BME, CEE, CS, EEP, ISE, ITP
      and MFD;
      Faculty of AME and EES, please inquire with your department IT.

   • Exchange Email 
     Currently available to staff.  Access is available to faculty of ASTE, BME, CEE, CS, EEP, ISE, ITP
      and MFD;
      Faculty of AME and EES, please inquire with your department IT.

VSOE Account Setup

Typical procedure for new staff members: Viterbi Business Affairs Human Resources provides the paperwork which include the USC network / email address to Viterbi IT when the new staff member is added to USC's central system.  The VSOE account name will match the USC assigned network account name to lessen potential confusion. The VSOE account will be created the same day and available for use if the paperwork is received by Viterbi IT before noon.

Departmental use or special use email accounts: Please contact the Viterbi IT Service Desk with the following information. Approval for creation of special use email accounts is not automatic and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Forgotten VSOE account Passwords / Assistance

You may use the VSOE Self Service Password Manager to reset your password even if you don't remember what it is, provided that you have already signed up for the service:  http://viterbi.usc.edu/vsoepassword

If you forgot your VSOE password and don't remember how to use the Self Service Password Manager, you may contact the Viterbi IT Service Desk at (213) 740-0517, engrhelp@usc.edu, or come to DRB 205 for further assistance.
 

Your USC Account – USC Web Mail, Remote Connectivity

This account is administered by USC’s central Information Technology Services group (ITS) and gives you access to:
   • Blackboard Learning Management System (http://blackboard.usc.edu)
   • Remote Internet connectivity (Wireless, ResNet, USC VPN)
   • USC Web Mail (Old Email System: http://email.usc.edu - If you have been migrated to
      Office365: http://www.usc.edu/office365/).
   • USC personal web pages
   • File space on the ITS-operated server, specifically almaak.usc.edu (RCF)
 

Account Setup

Go to http://www.usc.edu/firstlogin and follow the on-screen instructions to obtain your login name and create a password after your account has been set up by USC.

Forgotten USC Password / Assistance
