About VMWare Academic Program
VMWare Academic Program is a software licensing program for schools and colleges that teach and utilize technology. USC Viterbi School of Engineering is now a participant in the VMWare Academic Program (VMAP). Through VMAP, eligible USC students and faculty have access to VMWare products at no cost, subject to the terms of the program. Students and Faculty may install these tools on their personal computers.
A partial list of available software includes:
The current agreement is valid through February 3, 2018. It is not guaranteed that the agreement will be renewed after that date.
Software is provided for instructional and non-commercial research use only. Students may continue to use these products for non-commercial purposes, even after they graduate. Please note that each product may have a license good for a defined period of time. For example, as of this writing, the VMWare Workstation 10 license is good for 12 months. Read the terms and conditions carefully and note when your downloaded software will expire. Save your product key in a safe location. Neither Kivuto nor Viterbi IT will be able to retrieve your assigned product key if you lose it or if you are no longer eligible to log in to VMAP. You may see non-VMWare software offered to you at a discounted student or faculty price.
Software is accessed through a dedicated website run by Kivuto Solutions Inc. Access is given to students and faculty who meet certain requirements. Eligible individuals will sign in using USCNetID login credentials.
Who is eligible?
In order to meet licensing requirements and not risk loss of access for all eligible users, access for anyone who no longer meets the criteria described above will be disabled at each semester switch.
Students and faculty who leave the Viterbi School are able to continue to use software from this license that was installed on their machines prior to their departure until the software license expires.
What technical support is available?
The Viterbi School does not provide technical support for products obtained through the VMWare Academic Program. The Viterbi School does not troubleshoot or support problems with software installations, errors while using the software, or development with the software. The Viterbi School does not support problems with VMAP software on personal computers. VMAP software is provided as is.
Terms and Conditions for Use:
