Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) is Hiring
Wed, Jan 30, 2013 @ 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Workshops & Infosessions
Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA)
Hiring Presentation
Microsoft Research is now one of the few industry labs in the world that are still conducting both fundamental research and technology transfers. Microsoft Research Asia is founded in Beijing as Microsoftââ¬â¢s fundamental research facility in the Asia Pacific region and expands rapidly. By attracting the best talents from Asia and across the globe, Microsoft Research Asia has grown into a world-class research laboratory with more than 230 researchers and developers and more than 250 visiting scientists and students. Today, the lab continues to conduct basic research in natural user interfaces, next-generation multimedia, data-intensive computing, search and online advertising, and computer science fundamentals.
Internet Media and Media Computing groups belong to the next generation multimedia area at MSRA. The groups focus research on media compression, media processing, media communication and systems. Since the past 10 years, these two research groups have produced 4 IEEE Fellows, three MIT TR35 recipients, and mentored hundreds of interns now working in universities and companies worldwide. In addition to hundreds of high quality papers, including more than 10 best award papers, the groups have contributed significantly to international standards, including, MPEG-4, H.264, H.264 SVC extension and now in HEVC, and also transfers dozens of new technologies into Microsoft products including screen codec in RDP, H.264 codec in Windows 7/8, Bing image and video search, etc.
Besides the top notch researchers we hired, the secret sauce of Microsoft Research Asia also attributes to an army of top graduate interns from local and international universities. Researchers conduct research full time on their favorite topics while mentoring interns, without having to worry about funding and teaching. The company is committed to sponsor researchers to conferences and workshops to exchange ideas and collaborate with other colleagues in academia.
While MSRA is hiring top talents in any computing disciplines, the Internet Media and Media Computing groups specifically seek for top talents (fresh or experienced) in the area of media compression, processing, communication, wireless, networking, cloud computing and system. Depending on the qualifications, positions can be offered from post-doc researchers, researchers, lead researchers, senior researchers to principal researchers. While Ph.D. in CS or EE is preferred, we are also looking hands-on innovators who are good at implementing a complex system.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your inquiry or CV to Dr. Shipeng Li: (spli@microsoft.com)
