    One-on-One Grammar Tutoring for Viterbi Graduate and Undergraduate Students

    Students are welcome to bring any type of writing in any stage of development, including drafts. Examples include dissertations, articles, papers, cover letters, resumes, and personal statements.

    Viterbi writing professors will work with students to identify recurring errors and teach students how to correct them.

    Fall 2020 sessions will be conducted via Zoom on alternate Fridays. Contact helenhch@usc.edu to schedule an appointment today!

    Speaker: Adie Alwen, USC AME PhD Student

    Talk Title: Inverted cylindrical magnetron sputtering deposition on complex substrates

    Abstract: This work seeks to investigate the influence of cathode target geometry on gas discharge plasmas and resulting deposition mechanisms during inverted cylindrical magnetron sputtering on non-planar 3D substrates.

    Biography: Adie grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, and graduated from UCLA with a BS in Materials Engineering. Adie joined the Hodge Nanotechnology Research group in 2019 as a graduate researcher and Ph.D. student. Currently, Adie works on the synthesis of thin films and nanocrystalline microstructures, as well as plasma characterization. Following graduate studies, Adie aims to work in the aerospace industry in nanomaterials research and development.

    Looking to level up your Unity programming skills? Join us this Friday, October 2 at 5:00 PM PST for a discussion by Gabriel Lacayo on how you can utilize lesser-known aspects of programming in Unity to facilitate faster iteration and create better programming structures! Gabriel will be covering topics like how to use ScriptableObjects, Attributes, Property Drawers, Editor Scripts, and more.

    While anyone is welcome to join, this talk is primarily for those who already have some programming experience and would like to take their skills even further.

    Gabriel Lacayo is a junior at USC majoring in Computer Science (Games). Gabriel has worked on several projects in Unity, with the most recent being 2D platformer game Embower. Have any questions for Gabriel? Stick around after the presentation for a quick Q&A session!
