*Current*: A conversation with Ukrainian-born artist and USC alumni, Lina Kogan, and a day-long exhibition of her works.
*Current* is a collection of abstract minimalistic mixed media works with elements of hi-tech world, created in the last 3 years. The gadgets are deconstructed from their original form and function to the extent that meaning is shifted. They become brush strokes in Kogan's formalistic paintings, evoking meditative emotions.
Lina Kogan was born in Ukraine. She moved to the US in 1992 and graduated from USC in 2000 with Master's degree in Computer Science, Multimedia and Creative Technologies. Kogan's first ceramic sculptures emerged in 1996, followed by mixed media and experimental abstracts. Kogan is an award-winning sculptor and mixed media artist. Her multi-faceted mixed media, collages, abstract paintings and ceramics were exhibited by Torrance Art Museum, American Museum of Ceramic Art, Pacific Design Center, Neutra Institute Museum, TAG Gallery, California Conference for Advancement of Ceramics Arts (CCACA).
