  • Can We Master Patient Safety? Tools, Trends, and Technologies. A panel discussion and lunch

    Wed, Jan 29, 2014 @ 11:30 AM - 02:00 PM

Alfred E Mann Institute, Alfred E. Mann Department of Biomedical Engineering, Daniel J. Epstein Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering

    Workshops & Infosessions

It has been over a decade since the publication of the landmark Institute of Medicine report To Err Is Human: Building a Safer Health System. Yet, despite many efforts, preventable medical errors still occur at very high rates. What are the barriers to improving patient safety and what can be done to stimulate innovation and implementation? Will the Affordable Care Act and other key pieces of legislation incentivize institutions to tackle the issue? Where are the opportunities for entrepreneurs to jump in?

Please join us for the third event of our series as we bring together a panel of experts including Keck Medical Center of USC's Chief Medical Officer Dr. Stephanie Hall; CHLA Director of Critical Care Services Nancy Blake; USC health behavioral economics expert Dr. Jason Doctor; and entrepreneur and CEO of Hyginex Shiva Swami.
