Beyond the Stimulus: Assessing Your Federal Research Outlook for 201

This seminar will prepare faculty to connect their research goals with anticipated federal research trends in 2010 as the Obama Administration begins to establish and expand programs in its priority areas and the agencies finish distributing the funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Presenters will discuss the funding outlook for extramural research at federal science agencies and the policy context affecting research priorities and attitudes toward universities in Washington.By connecting their research agenda with federal trends, participants will improve their federal grant applications and influence programs and priorities at federal agencies. Faculty are encouraged to RSVP and submit questions for the presenters in advance.Presenters, from Lewis-Burke Associates, a federal research and education consulting firm include:Donna Dean, Ph.D.: National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality expert.Elizabeth Grossman, Ph.D.: National Science Foundation, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Defense expert.Michael Ledford: Department of Education, Department of Energy, NASA and Department of Transportation expert.Wendy Naus: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, and Institute of Museum and Library Services expert.Also: staff from USC's Office of Federal Relations:
