The First USC Symposium on the Futures of Robotics
Wed, Dec 07, 2011 @ 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science
Workshops & Infosessions
Organized and hosted by the USC Center for Robotics and Embedded Systems
There is a sharp rise in robotics research activity and high-level visibility nationally. This is signaled by new programs at the DoD (DARPA, ARL, AFOSR and ONR), and most prominently by the National Robotics Initiative (NRI) ââ¬â a joint endeavor by NSF, NIH, NASA, and the DoA. For the first time, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has a point-person on robotics.
The USC Symposium on the Futures of Robotics features invited talks by early- to mid-career roboticists breaking new ground in the field. The keynote presentation will be given by Prof. Henrik Christensen from Georgia Tech, one of the founders of the NSF sponsored Robotics Virtual Organization (Robotics-VO) and the leader of the roadmapping process that led to the creation of the NRI.
