Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
University Calendar
Each year, a select group of top Ph.D. students from the EE department are selected as "Ming Hsieh Institute Ph.D. Scholars." This set of students will be chosen carefully by a faculty committee on the basis of their research accomplishments and desire for an academic career beyond the Ph.D. The MHI Ph.D. Scholars are considered the top students in the department and prove to be leaders.
All MHI Ph.D. Scholar Applicants are selected through a two-phase process by a faculty evaluation committee. The application process for the 2012-2013 Scholars begins on 9/4 and are due by 5pm on September 9, 2012. It's strongly encouraged that you attend the information luncheon on 9/4 before submitting an application.
8-10 finalists will be selected in the initial phase and will present their research at this public talk competition.
Finalists will give short talks about their research, and out of this group of finalists, 3-4 students will be selected to represent the department and MHI as Ming Hsieh Institute Ph.D. Scholars.
