•The Greater Los Angeles (GLA) Botball Regional Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 4th, from 8am to 5pm, at the Shrine Expo Hall near the USC University Park campus.
•The event is open to the public.
•The Botball Educational Robotics Program (http://www.botball.org/) engages middle and high school students in a team-oriented autonomous robotics competition.
•This year's GLA regional features 48 teams, making it the largest Botball regional in the world.
•Most of the 48 teams are first-year Botball teams.
•28 of the 48 teams are fully funded by a collaborative NSF ITEST research grant (between USC and SIUE) investigating techniques to maximize mentor effectiveness in increasing STEM self-efficacy in students. The research is targeted at populations of students underrepresented in STEM, such as African-Americans and Latinos/Latinas. Prof. Maja Mataric serves as the USC PI of the grant.
