Biography
Dr. Jae Young Bang brings extensive professional experience in software engineering, expert consulting, and technical leadership, with a particular focus on software architecture, intellectual property, and complex software systems. His career spans industry, litigation consulting, and academia.
Since 2025, Dr. Bang has served as Software Technology Expert and CEO at Cyberonix Experts, LLC, where he leads a consulting practice specializing in software intellectual property litigation and technical advisory services. His work includes expert testimony in matters involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, and breach-of-contract claims. He has contributed technical analyses in areas such as software quality evaluation, reverse engineering, cost estimation, and source code analysis.
From 2019 to 2025, Dr. Bang was Senior Computer Scientist and Director of Software Development at Quandary Peak Research. In this role, he led R&D initiatives focused on methodologies for software analysis and provided expert consulting in IP disputes and technical due diligence for startup investments and M&A transactions.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Bang was a Software Engineer and Researcher at Kakao Corporation (2015–2019), where he designed and implemented the company’s user identity platform supporting over 100 million users. In 2012, he conducted a large-scale empirical study on collaborative software design at Infosys Limited.
Dr. Bang is also a committed educator. Since 2024, he has served as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California (USC), teaching graduate-level courses such as Software Architectures (CSCI 578) and Software Engineering (CSCI 577a). He previously held a teaching appointment at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2022, where he taught Software Design: Structure and Implementation (INF 122).
