Biography
Jonathan Holtmann is an experienced software developer and cybersecurity practitioner specializing in the development of security tooling. As a subject matter expert across ransomware, business email compromise, and cloud intrusion investigations, Jonathan leverages his cybersecurity expertise to develop software that acts as a force multiplier for threat hunters and cybersecurity analysis. He currently works as a Software Engineer for Microsoft, where he develops software solutions to power threat hunting and incident response activities across the company.
Before joining Microsoft, Jonathan worked at Kroll Cyber where he developed forensic tooling to support hundreds of incident response engagements annually. This tooling included a cross-platform forensic acquisition tool used to acquire millions of forensic artifacts across hundreds of thousands of hosts, as well as a business email compromise investigation platform.
Jonathan holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Business Administration and a minor in Applied Computer Security from the University of Southern California, as well as a M.S. in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University. During his time as a student he also worked as a teaching assistant for computer science and cybersecurity courses. Jonathan now brings his years of academic and professional experience back to his alma mater as a part-time lecturer with the Information Technology Program.
