Assistant Professor of Computer Science
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Microsoft Research, New York City. I completed my PhD in the Computer Science Department at Princeton University, where I was fortunate enough to be advised by Rob Schapire and also to work closely with Elad Hazan. I received my bachelor degree at Peking University.
Starting Fall 2017, I will be an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California.
My main research interest is in theoretical and applied machine learning, with a focus on adaptive and robust online learning and its connections to boosting, optimization, stochastic learning and game theory. I won the Wu Prize for Excellence and two best paper awards (ICML and NIPS) in 2015.
