Associate Professor of Technology and Applied Computing Practice
Kendra Walther serves as Associate Director for Faculty and Academic Affairs and an Associate Professor in the Technology and Applied Computing Program. Dr. Walther has been teaching at USC since 2014 and held the position as Associate Director since 2021. She has her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Harvey Mudd College, a master's degree in Computer Science from University of Maryland, College Park, and an EdD in Educational Leadership from Rossier @ USC. She has worked for the Aerospace Corporation and taught Computer Science at Cal State LA, St. Albans School, and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
Dr. Walther is passionate about teaching and learning and is an active member of ACM's Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education (SIGCSE) and Access Computing. Dr. Walther teaches computer science courses to non-majors and is constantly trying to find more ways to help her students understand the principles of programming. She has used various active learning techniques in her classes and is a trained facilitator for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL).
