Want a chance to introduce Girl Scout Brownies to science and engineering? Want to bring your Girl Scouts to USC's campus for a fun-filled day of workshops with female engineers? SWE will be hosting our very own themed Try It Riot, called "Engineer It!", including workshops on Alternative Energy, Exploring the Solar System, Capillary Action, Shapes and Origami, Static Electricity, and Weird Glop. We will also be serving lunch and ending with a technology scavenger hunt! We need help! Workshop leaders, troop "tour guides", and other assistants are needed to help pull this day together! Attending this event will earn you a point towards your active membership!About Professor Redekopp: Dr. Redekopp has been a member of the Viterbi faculty for more than 36 years, after joining the Department of Aerospace Engineering in 1970. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University, and a Master of Science and Doctor of Science in Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Redekopp's research interests include: theoretical fluid mechanics, nonlinear waves and stability, and geophysical fluid dynamics. This Thursday we will be hosting a RESUME workshop, just in time for you to clean up your portfolio as you prepare to seek out new internships, co-ops, or oppotunities to work with big BME companies. Or, if you haven't even started building your resume, this workshop will be perfect for you to get great tips on what makes a stellar portfolio. This workshop will cover everything from the basics to finishing touches on resume writing! Also, our annual tradition of hosting the ASBME Corporate Luncheon is rapidly approaching, so now is the time to get your resume in shape! Every year, our BME students who attend the luncheon gain an invaluable opportunity to meet and talk with company reps face to face, develop relationships, and discuss possible career openings all over a casual lunch.
