*** WIN CASH PRIZES FOR YOUR IDEAS***The USC Stevens Institute for Innovation is hosting the 2008 Annual USC Student Innovator Showcase and Competition during Trojan Parents Weekend on Friday, October 10, from 11-2 pm. We will be giving away $1500 in cash prizes and custom skateboards to the winning student innovator (s) and/or teams. Student innovators from all disciplines are encouraged to apply! Students may present work in a variety of ways, such as through poster/panel sessions, art exhibits, and electronic media. If you are a USC student with research or a project you would like to present, we want to hear from you! Student teams are also encouraged to apply. Please apply online (http://stevens.usc.edu/student_application.php) by September 12, 2008 to be considered.This is a great opportunity for you to get recognition for your work!Check out what the 39 student presentations showcased in 2007 and the LA Times coverage of last year's showcase. 2007 winners Jenova Chen and Kellee Santiago from USC interactive Media Division in the School of Cinematic Arts went on to be profiled in Businessweek, Forbes, and were named one of the "Top 10 Innovators to Watch" by Variety Magazine.****2008 USC Student Innovator Showcase and Competition****Gain exposure for your research and compete for over $1500 in cash prizes!On Friday, October 12, 2008 the opening day of Trojan Parents Weekend USC will host a celebration of student innovation at USC.
Presented by the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, the 2nd annual Student Innovator Showcase highlight breakthrough ideas from all corners of the university from interactive media to public policy, education to engineering, to engineering and the environment. Parents and students alike will get a highly interactive glimpse into the imaginations of USC student innovators. In 2008, we're going GLOBAL!
This year's event will showcase what forward and global-thinking innovators are producing for tomorrow's world, today!SAVE THESE DATES

October 10: Student Innovator Showcase and Competition (11:00 am 3:00 pm)INNOVATION [n] the process of translating new ideas into tangible societal impact.
Innovation is taking an imaginative idea and turning it into something that changes out world. It changes the way we live and work and think, and impacts our lives in the most fundamental way. Student innovation at USC includes advancement in every discipline, from cinematic arts, music and social sciences, to information technology, engineering and life sciences.WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Student innovators from all disciplines should apply! Students may present work in a variety of ways, such as through poster/panel sessions, art exhibits, and electronic media.We are eager to include innovations that exemplify the following:
Innovation in ALL disciplines, including the arts, science and technology, medicine, etc.
Potential for tangible benefit/impact to society (How could your work change the world?)
High novelty (Has anyone done this before?)
Presentations with visual interest and impact (engaging, high-touch demos, diagrams, etc.)
Progress turning idea into a tangible product, service or organizational model
Enthusiasm of innovator (and/or team) to introduce their work to student and parents at USC!To be considered:
