Mike Eldred, Sandia National Labs: Overview of Optimization Under Uncertainty Capabilities in DAKOTA

Uncertainties must be properly modeled in order to quantify risk and enable the design of systems that are both robust and reliable. A number of capabilities for optimization under uncertainty (OUU) have been developed at Sandia National Laboratories and deployed to users through the DAKOTA software toolkit. This talk will overview these capabilities, as well as describe the uncertainty quantification and optimization foundations on which they are based. Of particular interest are surrogate-based OUU and reliability-based design optimization methods.
