Visions and Voices presents: A Transborder Film Festival. This two-day festival will feature a dynamic selection of Mexican and Latino films that are at once popular and political.Action Films, Border Policing and Gender
10 a.m.-1 p.m.:
The classic Mexican action film La banda del carro rojo (The Red Car Gang) will be screened in Spanish with English subtitles. It will be preceded by several related shorts by artist and critical studies graduate student Adán Avalos. Avalos and USC critical studies professor Curtis Marez will lead a discussion following the screenings.2-5 p.m.:
Sin dejar huella (Without a Trace), directed by acclaimed Mexcian filmmaker Maria Novaro, reinvents the borderland crime drama with a feminist lens. Border cinema expert Norma Iglesias Prieto, a professor at San Diego State University, will lead a post-screening discussion.For more information, please visit:
