Talk Title: USC Physical Sciences in Oncology 2nd Annual Symposium
Abstract: The symposium is hosted by the USC Physical Sciences in Oncology Center, which was selected by NCI/NIH as one of twelve PSOC research centers in the nation. The overall goals of the center are to take new, non-traditional approaches to cancer research by studying the physical laws and principles of cancer; evolution and evolutionary theory of cancer; information coding, decoding, transfer and translation in cancer; and ways to de-convolute cancerâs complexity. Additionally, we have been charged with the task of encouraging widespread collaboration and building a new generation of scientists to lead these transdisciplinary efforts.
Biography: This is a full day event beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 6:00 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch with be provided for registered attendees. This 5-part workshop is designed to introduce Viterbi undergraduates to the purpose of a pursuing a PhD, and aid in their PhD application process. All Viterbi majors are invited to attend one or more workshops.
As the GRE is taken by everyone applying to graduate school, not just engineers and scientists, the GRE does not require advanced math or verbal skills, so it is very similar to the SAT. We will take a practice GRE and score it.

The University of Southern California's Associated Students of Biomedical Engineering (ASBME) will be hosting our 1st Fall ASBME Corporate Networking Mixer on September 27, 2012 from 6pm-8pm in the E-Quad.
The main goal of the event is to provide students an opportunity to network/talk with biomedical industry representatives. While it is recommended that you bring your resume and dress to impress, this will be different than a Career Fair. It will be a great opportunity to network and learn from people who are currently in industry.
