This 5-part workshop is designed to introduce Viterbi undergraduates to the purpose of a pursuing a PhD, and aid in their PhD application process. All Viterbi majors are invited to attend one or more workshops.
Unlike choosing a school for undergraduate where the school ranking can be a significant factor, for graduate school, the research topic and advisor should be the primary consideration. This is followed by other factors including school ranking. We will discuss how to determine which areas of research interest you and how to find professors in those areas.

This summer the Viterbi Summer Overseas Program is offering two concurrent seven-week programs in Paris, France and London, England. Students will have the opportunity to spend the summer abroad in Europe, make progress towards their engineering degree by taking two courses, and participate in a number of local excursions.
This program is for undergraduate engineering students and acceptance to the program is competitive, with priority given to upper-division students. This 5-part workshop is designed to introduce Viterbi undergraduates to the purpose of a pursuing a PhD, and aid in their PhD application process. All Viterbi majors are invited to attend one or more workshops.
Your CV will be requested for many, if not all, applications. Often, admissions committees start with the CV and use it as the âcut offâ. Therefore, it is very important to make sure that your CV contains all of the information, but is also easy to read. We will discuss some of the common mistakes, using before/after examples. We will also go over what you should and should not include on your CV.
