Write a program that calculates how many different combinations of coins there are that make up a given amount of money from pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. You are given the description of a lake as a polygon, as well as your own position in a boat somewhere on the lake. Write a program to calculate the earliest time at which a wave will hit the shore. You are given the names of n people, who are to be divided into k alphabetical segments, for instance, to stand in line for registration at USC. An "alphabetical segment" consists of all people whose last name starts with a letter between two given endpoints (for example, D-H). Write a program that finds a division into k alphabetical segments such that each person is in exactly one segment, and the number of people in the largest segment is minimized.Participate in the USC Programming Contest! The contest is open to all undergraduate and first-year graduate USC students, regardless of major, as long as they are at most in their fifth year of attending any college. We also use the USC Programming Contests to pick students that we train for the ACM Regional Programming Contest. IEEE General Meeting
Tue, Sep 12, 2006 @ 05:30 PM - 07:00 PM
Viterbi School of Engineering Student Organizations
Student Activity
Digital technologies have been widely applied to speech, audio, video and graphics in various commercial applications today. Digital media offer great advantages over the traditional analog media for their ease of high accuracy computation ( e.g. compression and encryption) and great freedom in media integration and delivery (e.g. VoIP). The availability of broadband wired/wireless Internet infrastructures and new technologies such as peer-to-peer networking and grid computing has increased the impact of digital media. This lecture will provide some important lessons learned from the history of digital media revolution, and provide an outlook to future business opportunities and R&D directions for digital media integration, distribution and management. Especially, we will discuss the mergence of 4C (Computer, Communication, Consumer Electronics and Content industry segments) and the value shift from the hardware/software products to service and content industry. The successful stories of Google and Skype will be explained.
